Project Summary
The project aims to decentralise the capacity to understand groundwater resources, keeping the national typology of groundwater in mind, by incubating the idea of Participatory Groundwater Management (PGWM).
This project will develop and facilitate hydro-geology related capacities within resource centres and provide them with valuable inputs about groundwater-related issues at the micro and macro levels. The program will also contribute to the development of skills in understanding and managing groundwater through the PGWM framework across India and ensure that these skills are used in the field. It will help partners develop strategies to deal with groundwater-related challenges, that will help in identifying and piloting management protocols. Finally, the project will document the data, experiences, knowledge gained, and process of PGWM.
Outputs
- Training – conducting 6 fifteen-day trainings on hydro-geology in Pune, assisting resource centres in developing materials and conducting training.
- Action research, including implementation of the PGWM pilot based on the research.
- Advocacy –holding advocacy workshops once a year, documentation of development, data publication, and work group meetings twice a year.
